Welcome to your Journey of Healing and Transformation

Trauma Therapy And EMDR

Trauma appears in may forms and can affect us all.  It can range from developmental trauma to collective trauma and often, it is through the body that this trauma becomes manifest and our thoughts, actions and behaviour can become misaligned.  My training in Trauma Informed Coaching enables me to use a range of somatic techniques, hypnotherapy and coaching, to assist you towards enjoying a harmonious mind, body and spirit.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy is a body-centred form mental health that focuses on the connection between the mind and body and explores how the body stores and expresses painful experiences. Mind-body healing is applied to support trauma recovery. Through Somatic therapy, I help clients in accessing their inner resources to regulate emotions and shift away from the primitive and natural stress response of fight, flight or freeze, leading to improved clarity of thought and thereby enhance being able to function in everyday life. By enhancing awareness of the mind-body connection and employing specific interventions, I can help release stored tension, anger, and other emotions in your body from past negative experiences, ultimately aiming to liberate you from obstacles hindering your full engagement with life.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Trauma can leave lasting imprints on your mind and body, but you don’t have to carry that weight forever. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help you process and release painful memories, allowing you to move forward with strength and clarity.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is a therapeutic approach that helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact. By using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping), EMDR facilitates the brain’s natural healing process, helping to reduce symptoms of:
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Anxiety and Panic Attacks
• Depression and Grief
• Phobias and Fears
• Low Self-Esteem and Negative Beliefs

How Does EMDR Work?

During an EMDR session, you will be guided through a series of eye movements while focusing on specific traumatic memories. This process helps your brain digest the experience and shift negative emotions and beliefs into more adaptive perspectives.

The 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy:

1. History Taking: Understanding your story and identifying target memories.

2. Preparation: Establishing safety and teaching coping skills.

3. Assessment: Identifying negative beliefs and desired positive outcomes.

4. Desensitisation: Using bilateral stimulation to reduce the emotional charge of the memory.

5. Installation: Strengthening positive beliefs.

6. Body Scan: Checking for residual physical tension or discomfort.

7. Closure: Returning to a state of calm and balance.

8. Re-evaluation: Assessing progress and planning next steps.

Why Choose EMDR?

EMDR is recognised by leading mental health organisations as a highly effective treatment for trauma. Unlike traditional talk therapy, it works directly with the brain’s natural processing systems, making healing faster and deeper.

What are the Benefits?

• Rapid and lasting symptom reduction
• Improved emotional regulation and resilience
